International Students

International students are invited to explore all of Temple’s summer programs. Temple University’s Center for American Language and Culture additionally offers International Students special programs during the summer months.

  • American Culture at Temple University (four weeks): Enroll in this exciting, four-week program to improve your English and learn about American culture. Choose from two exciting tracks: Language and Culture or Business English and Culture. Spend the mornings building your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. In the afternoons, take trips to explore historic and cultural sites in the Philadelphia area. This program is open to all students who have completed high school.

  • International Owls Program: Live and learn with high school students from the United States and around the world in Philadelphia: the birthplace of the U.S. This pre-college program offers academic workshops with Temple University professors. In the morning, you will study alongside high school students from the U.S. and around the world as you explore your future career in health and medicine, business, the arts, or world affairs. In the afternoon, you will participate in various college and career success workshops. You'll discover American culture as you take in Philadelphia’s rich history and world-famous art collections or participate in campus activities. Spend a day in New York City, at the beach, at Ivy League universities and other nearby iconic locations that will immerse you in the U.S. experience. Open your eyes to the possibilities!

  • Graduate Academic English (four weeks): This four-week course is ideal for students planning to apply to or entering a master's or doctoral program in the United States. It will help you fine-tune your writing skills, receive intensive training on pronunciation, and bridge the gap between everyday and academic English. Students who have been accepted to a graduate program at Temple University are eligible for a 15% discount.

When not in class, students can take advantage of the historical and cultural sites of Philadelphia and its proximity to other great cities along the east coast. Visit the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Take a short trip to Times Square in New York City, see the monuments and museums of Washington, D.C., or the historical attractions of Boston—they are all just a short train ride away.

Join the Temple University community and explore everything the region has to offer!
