Scholarship Application and Deadlines
Temple University offers Pre-College scholarships primarily based on financial need.
Scholarships are available for all Pre-College programs. Generally, scholarships are for program fees, and full scholarships are usually not available.
To be considered for a scholarship, you must complete the financial aid section of the application for your program. There is no separate application for financial aid, and no requests for scholarships or cost reductions will be considered after the application deadline of March 14, 2025.
Subject-Specific Scholarships
Any program is eligible for partial scholarship consideration, regardless of class or workshop choices.
However, some full scholarships are available within certain programs thanks to the generosity of external supporters of Temple Pre-College. These scholarships are competitive and can include on-campus housing and meals. Priority for these scholarships will be for Philadelphia residents.
If you are applying to the Pre-College Workshops program, students who are following the pathway below can be considered for full scholarships:
- Education Pathway: Choose Learning to Learn (and Teach!) as your morning workshop in either session and complete the financial aid section of the application, indicating why you are interested in becoming an educator in your essay.
If you are applying to the Summer Academy program, there is currently one pathway to be considered for full scholarships:
- Education Pathway: Choose MATH 0824: Mathematical Patterns or EDUC 0823: Kids in Crisis as your college course and complete the financial aid section of the application, indicating why you are interested in becoming an educator in your essay.
If you are applying to the Summer Institutes and Intensives program, there is one pathway to be considered for full scholarships:
- Education Pathway: Choose Learning to Learn (and Teach!) as your intensive and complete the financial aid section of the application, indicating why you are interested in becoming an educator in your essay.
Alumni and Employee Discounts
Children and grandchildren of Temple employees and alumni are eligible for a 10% discount on most Pre-College programs. To claim this discount, you will be asked to provide your parent or grandparent's name (and year of graduation, if applicable) on the financial aid page of your Pre-College application.
Discount Limitations
Alumni, employee, and other discounts are applicable to program fees only, and are not applicable to housing fees. One discount per enrollment. Students who are eligible for scholarships will be told in their acceptance email if their scholarship applies to program fees, housing fees, or both. Students who receive a scholarship may combine their financial aid offer with one discount, if applicable.
Other Sources of Aid
Students who are in need of aid are also encouraged to research and apply for different organizations that provide aid to high school/Pre-College students. Some organizations that may be able to assist include the Charles E. Ellis Trust for Girls (Philadelphia students only) and Wishbone. You may also consider asking your high school counselor if they are aware of any other sources of aid in your area. Community organizations may also provide scholarships to their local students. It is important to be proactive and start your aid search very early.
