Admission to honors as an incoming first-year student

Acceptance to the Honors Program is highly selective and based on more than just grades and test scores. We perform a holistic review of students, which includes a review of students' GPA, transcripts, and extra-curricular activities. If standardized test scores are available, they will also be considered. However, they are not required or preferred for consideration.

We do not have strict cut-off scores for admission. However, to give a general sense, recently accepted Honors first-year students had an average high-school GPA of 3.95 on a 4.0 scale, an average SAT of 1420/1600, and an average ACT of 32.

There is no separate application for incoming first-year students. All first-year students are reviewed for admission to the University Honors Program after they are accepted to Temple University. You will be notified of acceptance to the Honors Program on your applicant portal and via email notification.

Reviews for Fall 2025 admits will begin in January.
