Honors Program advisors are dedicated to providing holistic advising and helping students achieve their goals and discover their passions. You can read more about our advising staff's philosophies here.
SO, WHAT CAN HONORS ADVISORS HELP WITH?
- Resource navigation - Temple Honors is a small community at a large institution, and Honors can help you find the right office, faculty member, or resource on campus.
- Honors Program requirements - We can help with any questions about Honors courses and Honors Program requirements.
- Honors Minor advising - Honors is home to the Honors Interdisciplinary Minor in Social Justice, an 18-credit undergraduate minor open to all Temple University students.
- Major/minor exploration - Lots of our students change their major and we can help you find the right one!
- 4-Year Planning - Let us help you combine second majors, minor, certificates, internships, study abroad, and more into your undergraduate years.
- Enrichment advising - Honors classes? We love them. But what about learning outside the classroom? We can help you find internships, do research, apply to graduate/professional school, win scholarships and fellowships, start student organizations, and anything else you want to explore.
- Career & professional development - We partner with the Temple University Career Center to help students with resume building, interview skills, and employer matching. You also have access to our incredibly successful Honors Alumni Network.
- Senior Project advising - All Honors students are encouraged to complete a Senior Project, a highly customizable independent research project.
- Honors leadership opportunities - Honors has lots of its own orgs, including Honors Peer Mentors, Honors Ambassadors to Temple, and Temple Honors Appalachia. Students can also apply to join our student representative body, Honors Forum, or to be a Peer Instructor in our first-year seminar, Honors REACT.
- Honors abroad - Students can earn Honors course credit through our summer faculty-led study abroad experiences in Mérida, Mexico and Prague, Czech Republic, as well as several KleinGo programs.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HONORS ADVISING AND MY SCHOOL/COLLEGE ADVISORS?
Remember that you can always start in Honors, but your school/college is your primary advising office that grants you your degree. Students should meet with their school/college advising unit at least once a semester.
Some things that you need to see your school/college for include:
- Fly in 4 checkpoints
- Major/minor requirements
- Study abroad advising recommendations
- Graduation checks for Temple/major graduation
- Repeat course approval
- Permission to take a course at another institution after matriculation
- Auditing a course/credit-no credit
- Declaration or change of major/minor/concentration
