Temple Future Scholars is a new program that will guide participating seventh-grade students in Philadelphia public middle schools through their academic journey from middle school to college. It is a partnership between Temple University, the School District of Philadelphia and Heights Philadelphia, providing participating students with more accessible, supportive opportunities to reach their academic potential and get ready for college.

Future Scholars students will be coached and mentored throughout their time in the program. Regular meetings and workshops will allow students to explore their interests and stay on track to attend college. Temple Future Scholars who qualify will benefit from the Temple Promise, removing financial barriers to their education.
The program launched with 120 students, with the goal of expanding to 200 each year, and ultimately enrolling more than 1,200 students in grades seven through 12.
The university, school district and Heights Philadelphia will start by identifying those public middle schools in the city whose students can participate in the first Future Scholars cohort.
