Hi! I'm Lauren (she/her), and I'm a junior major in Public Health with a certificate in GIS (geographic information systems) and on a pre-law track. I want to pursue a career in legal epidemiology to combine public health research and my passion for politics and policy work. I love reading and am the president for the book club here on campus, so if you need any book recs - I got you. Last year I was able to do research with Dr. Resa Jones in the Epidemiology and Biostatistics department for cancer behavioral work, population/environmental health, and prevalence. I’m also super involved with the local politics here, being the VPs for Temple Democrats and getting to meet politicians. Talking with other students just as passionate about politics and making changes in our system makes me more motivated daily and helps recognize my privilege. I am a first-generation American and love meeting other students that have a similar background. I’m also looking into more ways to be more sustainable individually and on the university level - I’m the Vice President for Temple Student Government and am always open to hear suggestions from students about changes to make Temple more green. I want to help lower our carbon footprint and divest from fossil fuels eventually! If you’re also environmentally cautious and share that passion I would love to talk more about it and hear more perspectives! Feel free to email and reach out with any questions you may have about the honors program, public health, or share any of the same interests as me!
