A proud Temple Honors alum, Kacie graduated in 2017 with a B.A. in English, Creative Writing and Spanish. During her time at Temple as an undergraduate student, Kacie was a member of HATT, Honors Peer Mentors, and Phi Sigma Sigma, worked at the Student Success Center as a writing tutor, and volunteered for Nationalities Service Center and Mighty Writers. Despite being born and raised in the great state of New Jersey, Kacie has found her home in Philadelphia and is happy to chat about all things Philly!
After graduating, Kacie was awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant fellowship and lived in Galicia, Spain, where she spent a year teaching high school students English, eating pulpo (octopus) and tortilla española, and building up her reggaeton playlist with the hottest songs of 2018. Upon returning to Philadelphia, she began working with Wharton MBA Academic Affairs at the University of Pennsylvania, where she also completed her M.S. in Higher Education in May 2021. But Kacie never forgot her roots as an Owl, and she flew back home to Temple in August 2021 to begin a PhD in Spanish, focusing on Hispanic Linguistics. Her research interests include language and identity development in the college environment, equity and access through language learning, and sense of belonging in language communities.
In her free time, Kacie loves cooking, reading, playing Tears of the Kingdom on the Switch (very slowly and poorly), and walking along the Schuylkill River Trail. If you see her in the Huddle or waiting in line for the elevator at Mazur Hall, say hi!
