Hi everyone! My name is Erin (she/her), and I am a senior Computer Science major with a Mathematics minor from Rochester, NY. In addition to being an Honors Ambassador, I am also president of ACM-W, a computing organization on campus dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming place to learn about opportunities in the technology field, and I am also president of Temple Tappers, a dance club on campus devoted to spreading a love of tap dance in the Temple community and beyond. Sophomore year, I was a member of the Temple Human–Computer Interaction Lab led by Dr. Stephen MacNeil, where I conducted computer science research utilizing Natural Language Processing and GPT-3. As part of my work with Dr. MacNeil’s research group, I was an author on the “Generating Diverse Code Explanations using the GPT-3 Large Language Model” poster accepted into the ICER 2022 Conference. During the summers of 2021 and 2022, I worked as a Software Development intern for Baxter Planning, a service supply chain company based in Austin, TX. Last summer, I interned at L3Harris in Rochester, working as a software engineer to develop code for a series of their radio products. I chose Temple for its variety of majors, wide selection of clubs, diversity, and Honors program. Because it was a large university in the middle of one of the largest cities in the US, I knew that I would not be limited in my choice of study or options for extracurriculars. Being a part of the Honors community has been amazing, allowing me to form personal connections with peers and experience a “small college-feel” within a large university. The Honors staff is absolutely incredible and is always willing to help anyone that needs it. A few fun facts about me: I love exploring Philly and trying new foods (I highly recommend the food trucks around Temple!), I have danced for 19 years, and I love everything Broadway, musicals, crochet, and Star Wars. If you have any questions about computer science, math, Philadelphia, Temple, Honors, or anything else, please don’t hesitate to reach out! :)
