Hello! My name is Lolade Kola-Adewuyi (Lola-day). I am a junior Advertising major with dual concentrations in Art Direction and Copywriting. I'm actively pursuing certifications in American Sign Language and Linguistics with the goal of becoming an ASL interpreter in the future as I am deeply passionate about advocacy for minorities and deaf education. In addition to being a peer mentor, I am also involved in the honors program with Temple Honors Appalachia (THA) and plan to be for the rest of my college career because of the irreplaceable memories I made in Paintsville. I am involved on campus as the Advertising Manager of The Temple News, the Treasurer and Fundraising Chair of Talking Hands (ASL) club and a Student Success Center Conversation Partner/Tutor for ASL and English. Aside from my campus involvements, I love writing creatively and exploring unconventional art forms like makeup, fashion, and aesthetically pleasing photos and videos. This summer, I will spend my time working as a RA at Penn State for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children and reading “All About Love” by Bell Hooks in my free time and I am ecstatic! Although I am taking in every second of summer, I am excited to meet and get to know all of you this year. I’ll leave you with what I wish I could tell my freshman self; new beginnings are often disguised as painful endings; embrace the discomfort, take risks, and trust the process. If you ever need any help or simply want to connect, please feel free to reach out!
