Hi everyone! My name is Umali Vadher and I use she/her pronouns. I am a sophomore Health Professions major anticipating a Diversity and Inclusion certificate within the coming years. I am from Downingtown PA, and I attended Downingtown East High School. I committed to Temple because I loved being in the city where there are so many opportunities to volunteer, visit, explore, and eat! I am interested in the medical field hoping to become an optometrist, dermatologist, or general family physician when I am older. Here at Temple, I am captain of the all girls Indian Fusion Bollywood Dance Team called Temple Agni. Additionally, I am a member of the Phi Delta Epsilon (PHIDE) chapter (a premedical professional fraternity) which has helped create a family of pre med students and helped build a community of like minded individuals. I am also Vice President of the South Asian Student Society which brings together the various cultures in South East Asia and helps to build a strong collaborative environment that preserves the students’ cultural identities. I am also a member of Foundation for Medical Relief of Children (FIMRC) which promotes helping the communities around us and raising money for better health care for everyone. I also pursue my interests in pre health by joining Alpha Epsilon Delta, a pre health chapter that encourages students to build relationships with similar minded students, volunteer in their community, and connect with local speakers and individuals from the surrounding community. Currently, I am volunteering at Temple Hospital through the At Your Service Program! I am also beginning research this semester at Lewis Katz School of Medicine in the Alzheimer’s Lab. Here on campus, I love food trucks- especially the Honey Truck, Halal Truck,- and I also love Master Wok (a hidden gem). Out of school, I love taking the subway into the city and trying new restaurants. I love Chinatown and all the boba and ramen there as well. I also LOVE animals, especially dogs! I currently live in a four bedroom apartment in The View. I admire the Honors Program here at Temple because love being surrounded by people I see in my classes and I have made some of my best friends here. If you have any questions about anything I talked about please reach out! I am reachable through text, email, or even social media @umalivadher. I can’t wait to meet all the future prospects and tell them what Temple is all about!
